Fear. Phobia. Psychological help for emotional disorders. How to get rid of fear?
Fear is an adequate reaction of a person to an imaginary or real threat to his safety. It refers to unconditional reflexes. The feeling of fear is perceived as an unpleasant experience of anxiety and excitement. Fear is associated with the unconditional reflex of blood circulation, respiration, endocrine system, etc. Therefore, it affects the body all over. In severe stressful situations, fear can get out of control and become entrenched in behaviour as inadequate reactions such as phobias. The adequacy of the fear response to an external stimulus is checked by tests. Clients who use our centre often ask the following questions during consultations: How can I stop being afraid? How to get rid of fear? How do you overcome fear? Fear – what do I do? If the level of fear exceeds the permissible limit, psychological correction of behaviour is required.
Phobias. The test for phobias. Treatment of phobias.
Irrational, imaginary fears are called phobias. Phobias are conventionally divided into specific phobias, social phobia and agoraphobia. Phobias in different countries affect from 4 to 8% of people. The phobia test shows the depth of the emotional disorder and is a signal of the need for treatment. In medicine, phobias are considered mental disorders and they are treated in medical clinics. However, drug treatment of phobia is ineffective, since the causes of fear are behavioural and psychological. Pills for fear and medications for anxiety help little and, as a rule, such treatment translates the state of fear into a chronic form. In behavioural psychology, people get out of a state of chronic fear by teaching a new type of adequate behaviour within 2-6 weeks.
